Two Blood Orange & Bourbon Witches Brew Cocktails are really fun when you make themed cocktail picks like these DIY eyeball cocktail picks to go with the theme.
When you’re planning your Halloween menus and parties, be sure to add this drink because it not only looks amazingly spooky, it’s also delicious!
Blood Orange and Bourbon are two flavors that taste great together – after all a classic drink, the Old Fashioned, is traditionally made with a whiskey or bourbon with orange. But here, we add some yummy pomegranate juice and ginger beer to add some layers and sparkle to the drink.
Of course, you can make this drink any time of year. It’s just that good.
But it’s so much fun to serve this one like a proper witches brew for Halloween.
I like to take the fun a step farther and DIY some stemless wineglasses with some food safe paints to make it look like the glasses are cauldron’s overflowing with goo.
And of course, making some fun DIY Halloween cocktail picks is fun too like these fun eyeballs. So have fun, and make a delicious drink and serve it with some whimsy and fun!
Can I serve the Blood Orange and Bourbon Witches Brew like a punch?
Yes! You absolutely can make this drink ahead of time and serve it in large quantities. In fact, we love to see this one served in a cauldron, but if you don’t have one, a punch bowl or pitcher will work very well.
What you want to do is multiply the ingredients. Then combine the bourbon, orange liquor, pomegranate juice and lemon juice.
Refrigerate it if you are making it more than an hour ahead of time. Otherwise, you can make it in your punch bowl and use ice.
Be sure to only add the chilled ginger beer right before serving.
If you will be serving it periodically throughout the event, you may want to serve a small amount of the punch and top the glass off with ginger beer as you serve it.
This will preserve the fizz so that the drinks really has that “cauldron bubbles” effect – and so the drink isn’t flat.
