The ganache is simple to make and can be used as a filling or topping.
A chocolate ganache is a rich and luxurious chocolate sauce that can be used as an icing, filling, or decoration.
It’s made by combining chocolate and cream, and the proportions of each determine the thickness and richness of the ganache.
Here, we’re using white chocolate (or almond bark) in place of chocolate.
We’re also using milk and butter in place of cream.
You may substitute cream if you would prefer.
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup white chocolate chips or almond bark
Ingredients for Garnish:
You will need an additional 1 cup white chocolate peppermint bits for garnish.
I like to sprinkle them liberally, but you may adjust it to your liking.
Pre-Steps:
Preheat oven to 350F
Grease and line a 9″ x 9″ baking dish
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar and butter until light and fluffy, 2 minutes.
Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until incorporated.
In a separate medium-sized bowl, combine the cocoa powder, flour, salt and baking powder.
Stir until mixed.
Add half of the dry ingredients into the butter-sugar mixture, beat well, then add remaining half.
Stir in the 1/2 cup white chocolate peppermint chips and then fold the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the center is firm to the touch and the edges are crisp and pull away from the edges of the pan.
Allow to cool as you prepare the ganache.
Place milk, butter and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Stir frequently until the mixture is completely incorporated.
Remove from heat and then add the vanilla extract and white chocolate.
Stir until completely melted.
Pour the white chocolate ganache over the brownies and smooth with an offset spatula.
There’s nothing like the smell of fresh brownies in the oven.
And when they come out, they’re always so tempting, with their warm, chocolatey goodness.
It can be really hard not to dig in.
But the wait is worth it!
Sprinkle the additional white chocolate peppermint bits on the ganache while it is still wet.
Let ganache set before cutting and serving, about one hour.
